According to the holiday season, on July 7 of the current year, before full completion of works, on the territory near Batumi Sea Port, the four-lane highway was opened technically. The completion of the project is scheduled for September; however, the crossing bridge was opened in the city due to the tourist season. Accordingly, movement in and out to Batumi will be possible without crossing the railway and without traffic. The last part of the works is to arrange the third and final asphalt cover, after which Batumi will have a completely new, ideal and modern designed highway. The project is financed from Adjara budget and is worth more than fifteen million GEL. Besides the bridge, the project included construction of five auxiliary roads necessary for port and highway function. According to the Government of Adjara, these roads will increase efficiency of loads turnover. The length of Batumi highway is 800 meters and height -8.5 meters. "GRG" company conducts the arrangement of asphalt pavement on this territory with the main contractor of the project "Caucasus Road Project". The construction of highway started under the supervision of Zurab Pataridze, the former chairman of Adjara government. The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Maia Tskitishvili opened highway with Batumi Mayor Lasha Komakhidze and the acting Minister of Economy Ramaz Bolkvadze.
